Near-onset dynamics in natural doubly diffusive convection

چکیده

Doubly diffusive convection is considered in a vertical slot where horizontal temperature and solutal variations provide competing effects to the fluid density while allowing existence of conduction state. In this configuration, linear stability conductive state known, but patterns arising from primary instability have only been studied for specific parameter values. We extended by determining nature bifurcation all values Lewis Prandtl numbers using weakly nonlinear analysis. The resulting branches are numerical continuation we find large-amplitude steady states can coexist with stable sub- supercritical bifurcations. investigated attracting travelling waves periodic orbits identified time-stepping when these unstable.
